They say you can’t have your cake and eat it too. But what if you are the one baking it? Balancing being a student and also having to look after a homegrown business is not an easy task but for the past year that has been my crazy, flour-dusted adventure.

My love for baking started in my school days, experimenting in the kitchen gave me a break from my daily school work and homework. It gave me a sense of happiness and joy to turn ingredients into delectable pieces of treat. I have received immense love for my creations from friends and family, and their constant encouragement, coupled with my dream of owning a bakery pushed me to turn my everyday hobby into a business.

Juggling classes and cake orders was just the beginning of my chaotic journey in the adult world. Schooldays and early mornings were spent hunched over textbooks, fueled by strong coffee and the mental image of the cupcakes that I had to deliver to my clients by evening. Cramming for exams often involved the rhythmic kneading of the dough, the repetitive motions strangely calming my pre-test jitters. Even though the entire process was exhausting, the look on customers' faces and the love and appreciation I received from the people around me have made the hectic schedule worth everything.

Now I am a college student and I have grown a lot from where I started. I am still facing challenges and learning how to balance deadlines, both academic and edible, tested my organizational skills to their limits. The constant pressure to perform, both in the classroom and in terms of customer satisfaction, was a constant source of anxiety. But through it all, I have learned a valuable lesson: passion is a powerful motivator.
