Narkol Naru
This coconut-based confectionery is often made during special occasions and festivals like Makar Sankranti. The primary ingredients for narkol naru include grated coconut, jaggery (often khejur gur) and sometimes khoya. The grated coconut is mixed with melted jaggery or khoya to form a dough-like consistency. They’re then shaped into small balls and allowed to harden. With a rich sweet flavour, there can be regional variations and personal adaptations in the ingredients and preparation as you travel across West Bengal and Bangladesh.
